I'm not entirely sure where to start or what to say about this session. Except what started as a completely impromptu session as I photographed another photographer for some headshots, turned into something so beautiful and special for me.

She had also brought along her daughter. We had some time and I started photographing her daughter as well. We let her roam among the spring flowers in Balboa Park and the butterfly garden there.

I did about half the session in free lens mode which if you have read previous blog posts or followed me on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/selahphotographyad) then you know what lovely, unique and soft beauty this artistic take on portraits adds. Children are among my favorite subjects to photograph and as we let her roam I let her take the lead which I enjoy as this really adds to each child's unique personality shining through in the photos.

Among my favorite moments was when I was asking her questions about herself and what she enjoyed she said she liked singing. I requested a song and she began to sing You Never Let Go by Matt Redman. Among the lyrics are these:

"And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We'll live to know You here on the earth"

These words echoed around me as I photographed this beautiful young lady in and among such a lovely show of God's creation. I sang along and photographed with a renewed heart, mind and spirit. What follows is a truly inspired session even though {to me} it was not planned.
